Metallica has completed the recordings for their upcoming 10th studio album, expected later this year.
Speaking with NBC Sports on June 6th prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins, Metallica singer James Hetfield revealed: "We're mixing it now, so hopefully by fall it'll be out and hitting people's ears. We're super stoked about it. It's been a long time coming, and, you know, this is what we do. We love playing, and the next album is exactly what it's supposed to be, so we're excited about it."

In celebration of Record Store Day 2015, Metallica released No Life 'Til Leather as a limited edition cassette. The seven tracks housed on this tape were recorded in 1982 in Tustin, CA by the band's original lineup of James Hetfield: lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Lars Ulrich: drums, Dave Mustaine: lead guitar, and Ron McGovney: bass.
Expanded versions of No Life 'Til Leather on CD, vinyl and limited edition deluxe box set, were originally scheulded to be released last summer, but so far have failed to materialise.
Speaking exclusively to Metal Forces, Ulrich explained the delay. "There were some unexpected difficulties on the legal side that prevented the No Life 'Til Leather box set and our vision for how we were going to kick this whole reissue series off," he said. "We spent some time doing that dance, but then James and I decided that it wasn’t worth it getting bogged down in all the unpleasantries, because this was supposed to be a celebration and not end up being a tug of war, so we thought, 'You know what? Fuck it. We'll just move on to Kill 'Em All."
Metallica, though, haven't given up entirely on the planned expanded versions appearing at a later date. "As you know, I am the eternal optimist, and I am the eternal 'glass is well fucking half full,' so who knows?" stated Ulrich. "I think some of those parties have circled back around now that they've seen that this is real and so we'll have to see. It would be great to share No Life 'Til Leather in a year or two with our fans and with the people that care. We haven't shut the door on it."
