Producer Flemming Rasmussen is best known in metal circles as the producer for Metallica's classic Ride The Lightning ('84), Master Of Puppets ('86) and ... And Justice For All ('88) albums. Focus On Metal Podcast pays tribute to Master Of Puppets on it’s 30th anniversary…
“Another milestone passes this week as we roll out episode 300. We taken this opportunity to use this episode to celebrate another metal milestone that turns 30 this year, namely Metallica’s landmark release Master Of Puppets. Released on March 3rd, 1986, MOP changed the thrash game forever. This week we talk with author Joel McIver and MOP producer Flemming Rasmussen about the album."
On the goal of the album, Rasmussen states: "Master is a refinement of Ride The Lightning only better."
On whether he heard any of the Master Of Puppets ideas during the Ride The Lightning sessions, he says: “No. Ride was missing a song or two and I know that they wrote one song in the studio over the weekend. We let them live upstairs over the studio because they didn't have much money.”
