On Monday, August 7th, for the fifth year in a row, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett took to the field to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the Fifth Annual Metallica Night with the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.
Band members were on-hand participating in various pre-game festivities. Special Event ticket package holders to the Monday night game against the Chicago Cubs received a collector's edition Giants / Metallica Hardwired For San Francisco 3/4 sleeve shirt (pictured below).
While 2017 served as the fifth annual Metallica Night at AT&T Park, it was only the second time that a special pre-game VIP Experience had been held. Each VIP-ticket holder received admission to the Triples Alley Premium Location, and a special Q&A panel with drummer Lars Ulrich hosting a pre-game Q&A with tennis coach, commentator and author Brad Gilbert to talk sports, music and more. Additionally, each VIP ticketholder received a limited-edition Metallica / Giants Mini-Drum Desktop Collectible (pictured below).
The San Francisco Giants have uploaded a video of Kirk Hammett performing an instrumental solo version of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" from Monday night.
