MIKE INEZ Talks Leaving OZZY OSBOURNE's Band For ALICE IN CHAINS - "We Still Have a Great Relationship With Ozzy To This Day"

During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, bassist Mike Inez opened up about his departure from Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1993to join Alice In Chains. Following is an excerpt from the chat.

Inez: "I say 'Ozzy, I've gotta talk with you.' So we walked outside and I said, 'The Alice In Chains guys want me to go to Europe.' He looks me right in the eye and says 'If you don't go we have to go to the hospital.' I said, 'Why?' And he said, 'Because it's gonna take them about a week to get my foot out of your ass!' He really was pushing for it. He said, 'You really seem to get along with those guys great. They are a fantastic band.' We still have a great relationship with Ozzy to this day, and his family."

Back in June, Inez revealed that Alice in Chains was due to begin recording the follow-up to their 2013 album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, in Seattle with producer Nick Raskulinecz at Studio X.

Inez tells the Let There Be Talk podcast: “We're going back home to do a record, really. The last two were (recorded) in L.A., and they were cool. I just feel in 2017, it's time for Alice In Chains to go back to Seattle… drink that water, breathe that air.”

He continues: “My Heart family's up there. There's just such a history… every street corner for us is a memory; crazy shit happened or some beautiful stuff. Seattle's a really special place, especially this time of year. It's the best."
