MOONSORROW Premier “Suden Tunti” Music Video
March 21, 2016, 8 years ago
On April 1st, Finnish pagan metal act Moonsorrow will release their seventh studio album Jumalten Aika – which means The Age Of Gods in English – via Century Media Records. Today the band release an epic video for the track “Suden Tunti” (The Hour Of The Wolf).
"This is the shortest song we've done in more than ten years!” comments Ville Sorvali. “It has all the elements that make it a Moonsorrow track but it's still something we hadn't done before. This is the dark side of folk metal - the epic battle of Fenris and Odin from a new perspective."
“This is the day we never thought would come. We never thought we would release an official Moonsorrow music video,” adds Mitja Harvilahti. “Writing music without compromises is hard enough. Making a video that catches the same spirit without compromises and awkward moments that takes away the credibility is even harder! We had a thought for some time that only an animated video with enough artistic flavour would work. Since Suden Tunti is somewhat based on actual myths it was possible to create the world where the script takes place!”
The limited edition 2CD formats come with a strictly limited patch as well as a bonus disc including cover versions of Grave’s “Soulless” and Rotting Christ’s “Non Serviam”, for which the band recently launched a static video.
Henri Sorvali (guitars, keyboards & vocals) comments: "WE DO NOT SERVE. Everyone in Moonsorrow has been a great Rotting Christ-fan since the early 90’s and with our version of this song we wanted not only to honour the band but also give the credit how much we have been influenced by them throughout our history. With our hails and deepest respect to our brothers in Hellas, we proudly present our interpretation of their creation: “Non Serviam”.”
Frontman Sakis Tolis states: "The “Non Serviam” dictum is more topical than ever nowadays and we are more than honored, that the great Finish Pagan metal warriors, Moonsorrow, have honoured it and gave their own vision on how our early 90's song can also sound nowadays. We all in the band find their creation amazing and we send our respect to the north. Keep the spirit alive!"
“There are a lot more folk music influences present in Jumalten Aika than earlier”, comments Henri Sorvali. “This time around, they are more deeply integrated to the overall sound. Jumalten Aika is like a circling wolf biting the hardest when you would never expect it. The music is unchained aggression, deep mysteries of the North and thundering witchcraft combined together in a molten forge of the Gods and reminds us all of something that never left our blood and soil.”
