NIKKI SIXX On Upcoming SIXX:A.M. Tour- "It Will Be Nothing That MÖTLEY CRÜE Has Ever Done; It'll Have a Different Interpretation Of What A Rock Band Is"

Sixx:A.M., featuring James Michael, DJ Ashba and Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx, will embark on its first headlining tour in April. Sixx recently spoke with Billboard.com about the upcoming road trip; an excerpt from the interview is available below:

Sixx: "It's not new that we've been influenced by David Bowie and Mott the Hoople and queen and Elton John musically, but we also look at those bands and go, 'Those were arena bands. Those were theatrical shows. Those were extravaganzas.' As we're putting the show together and looking at ideas, that's what we're gunning for. We're not just going to play a linear, one-dimensional, hard set. We're gonna take you on a real musical journey.

The concerts will be like nothing that Mötley Crüe has ever done because I would never disrespect Mötley Crüe and do that. Mötley Crüe is this beautiful, four-headed monster and this is a new band, a different band and it'll have a different interpretation of what a rock band is.

"We want (Sixx:A.M.) to be a band on our own, and moving forward we feel like this is the kind of band where there's no ceiling. There's no boundaries. It's going to be exciting to put it together live and solidify it as a live rock band and then see what we do with that when we start the writing process again, 'cause when Mötley Crüe's over Sixx:A.M. is going to be my priority as a band."

Adam Arnkoff, senior VP of Touring at 10th Street Entertainment, the company that manages Sixx:A.M., hinted that more excursions will follow. “The band is eager to give back to all the fans who have supported them and their first headline tour ever is the best way possible,” Arnkoff told Pollstar. “This time around, we are only able to hit select major markets, but this will serve as a taste of what is to come down the road.”
