Frontiers Music Srl has announced the singing of Shadowspell, a new melodic metal act born from a collaboration between Italian guitarist/songwriter Aldo Lonobile and vocalist Nils K. Rue.

Lonobile is best known for his extraordinary work with power/progressive stalwarts Secret Sphere. Throughout the world, Nils K. Rue has become a household name, having traversed the globe with Norwegian progressive metal giants Pagan's Mind.

The two musicians met for the first time in 2003 during the ProgPower USA in Atlanta, when Pagan’s Mind and Secret Sphere were both featured on the roster. They forged a friendship that has lasted the last 13 years, leading to the creation of songs between performances and writing duties for their respective main bands.

The rest of the super group line-up features Symphony X bassist Mike LePond, drummer Uli Kusch (Gamma Ray, Helloween, MasterPlan) and former bandmate of Lonobile in Secret Sphere, Antonio Agate (Odd Dimension).

Aldo Lonobile says that “everytime Nils sings, he amazes me! The ideas we are working on are superb. The result will be a melodic metal album featuring lots of orchestrations, great solos and riffs and killer melodies. You can hear old Queensrÿche, Yngwie Malmsteen and Savatage influences! Be ready for a melodic metal jewel. I am very grateful to Frontiers for the chance to release this work which I am extremely proud of!”

"I am really stoked about this," says singer Nils K. Rue. "Some of the lyrics and melody lines I laid down on the demo songs we wrote over the years are really personal to me and I put my full heart into them. Between work with Pagan’s Mind, Eidolon and other projects, the Shadowspell songs were a way to let out the real emotional part of me. Often recorded alone in my home studio, just before sunrise while in a very creative and intense mood, it mirrors the real me in a right way. It was like: I could come home heartbroken, with no one to talk to. So I started to record my emotions right there on Aldo's tracks only to put the whole thing on the shelf the next day, leaving it there for years. I couldn’t think of anyone better to write emotional and heavy music with than Aldo, he's my soul brother musically and his compositions give me goosebumps."
