Original DIO Drummer VINNY APPICE On RONNIE JAMES DIO Hologram - “If The Fans Like It, Love It, I’m For It... If They Think It’s A Terrible Thing, Then It Might Be A Little Over The Top”

Earlier this month, eonMusic’s Eamon O’Neill revealed Def Leppard / original Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell’s opinion on the ‘Dio Returns’ Ronnie James Dio hologram tour.
Said Vivian: To each his own; the way I look at it is, if that goes on tour, that will raise awareness of Dio and the catalogue, and by virtue of that, we will benefit because we’re associated in some way, and they will benefit from what we’re doing, so it’s a very reciprocal kind of thing, and it’s all good. Like I say, I haven’t seen it, so I’m not going to pass judgement on it.”

eonMusic now has the opinion of the only other surviving member of the original Dio band. They spoke with drummer Vinny Appice about his career, and he made some surprising revelations.
On leaving Dio in the early 1990s: "It became all these young guys in the band; Teddy Cook [bass player], and Rowan Robertson [guitarist], all these people, and I’m like; ‘This is not Dio’. That got weird. It wasn’t the same. There was no magic there.”
On the Dio hologram: "I saw it [the story] the other day, and I went; ‘How’s that?!’ It says ‘Dio is back!’; I’m not in the band, Viv’s not in the band, Ronnie is not here… I dunno. I haven’t seen the first one, and I dunno, It depends. It’s not really my thing. If the fans like it, love it, I’m for it. If they think it’s a terrible thing, then it might be a little over the top."
Vinny also revealed the album that he's least happy with having recorded, the one he’d like to be remembered for, and his feelings on not being asked to play on Black Sabbath's 13.
