PAUL STANLEY - "Any Band With Money Can Do A KISS Show, But They'll Never Be KISS"

Currently on KISS' Freedom To Rock tour in the US, frontman Paul Stanley spoke with The Morning Call about going out and playing more than 25 cities it hasn't visited in over 10 years, and four first-time stops. An excerpt is available below.

On the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino residency in 2014: "The band sounded great, and it was a very unique situation where we got a chance to put together a stage show that didn't have to travel. So we were playing a much smaller venue than we would normally play and yet we were doing a much bigger show than perhaps we could do in some arenas. So to be able to kind of set ourselves down and plant ourselves in one location gave us the opportunity to do a different kind of set and a different kind of show. And it was gangbusters. I want to go back and do another residency in Vegas."

On the Freedom To Rock tour: "One of the great things about this tour is going back to places that somehow, for one reason or another, have been off the touring grid. And it's a thrill. I mean, I have to say it's great to play these great big metropolises, but truth be told, we made our name by playing the smaller cities. And this only reaffirms for us why we should be doing this — is to go full circle and go back to where it all started."

On the tour production: "Honestly, at this point, after all the shows we've done, it's come to a point where any band with money can do a KISS show. Any band out there can get fire and bombs and anything they want. But they'll never be KISS. It's a great, great show … but there's a great band on stage."
