Apart from their inner circle, there is perhaps no one that gets closer to rock ‘n’ roll stars than photographers. Lucky enough to witness stardom first hand and talented enough to capture it in a way that tells a story, rock photographers see it all. Patrick Harbron has seen it all-and he's spent his life sharing the photos he's captured with the world. Beginning November 5th and running thru February 12th, 2017, Harbron's newest exhibit, Rock and Roll Icons: Photographs by Patrick Harbron, will be opening at the Albany Institute of History and Art in Albany, NY.

Capital region resident Patrick Harbron began his career photographing the luminaries of rock and roll. Rock and Roll Icons: Photographs by Patrick Harbron is an exhibition taken from Harbron's body of concert and portrait photography of influential musicians and groups of the 1970's and 1980's, captured at pivotal moments in their careers. The exhibition features many photographs that have never been published or exhibited. Harbron photographed artists such as Blondie, Rush, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello andMadonna early in their careers. He followed these artists to prominence and others that were already well known including The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Queen, The Who, Genesis, KISS, U2, Aerosmith, and Prince. The work has been published on album, CD and DVD covers, in books, magazines, and for publicity and tour booklets. His photographs have been exhibited in various group collections and solo shows in New York and Los Angeles, including the New York Public Library of the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center and Morrison Hotel Gallery, who also represent his work. This year he took part in 3 group exhibits at Morrison Hotel Gallery showing photographs of early Bruce Springsteen and KISS.

The exhibition at the Albany Institute of History and Art will include Harbron's collection of posters and ephemera gathered throughout his career along with guitars and other memorabilia borrowed from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

A lecturer and public speaker, Harbron recently travelled to Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio and gave the keynote address: "Icons and Influence: A Rock and Roll Photographic History."
