PRINCE - Full Impromptu Performance At SNL40 After Party Posted (Video)

Legendary musician Prince was found unresponsive on the morning of Thursday, April 21st at his home at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, a Minneapolis suburb, and later declared dead. The Grammy/Oscar/Golden Globe winning artist was 57.

Prince's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, issued the following statement: “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.”

The footage below, which surfaced on YouTube on April 22nd, 2016 was filmed by Saturday Night Live alum Tim Kazurinsky last year standing on his tiptoes. At the SNL40 After Party at the Plaza Hotel in NYC, Jimmy Fallon coaxed music icon Prince onstage to give what would be a legendary impromptu performance. Here it is in its entirety.

Also featuring Emma Stone on tambourine, HAIM, Donna Grantis, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, Bill Murray, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jim Belushi, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock and many more.

Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, who is currently on the Generation Axe tour with Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde and Tosin Abasi, posted the following message on April 22nd:

"Tonight was supposed to be a night of guitars, so I have to thank you Orlando for giving me just a few minutes of your time and your voices and your hearts, to help me heal... and allow me to shed a few tears. I really needed that.

And I know he heard you.

Prince... the joy you have given me throughout my life, the way you made me move. You taught me to learn all instruments, not just to be a guitarist, but a musician, an individual. That the priority wasn't the skill, but the emotion behind it. And the songs, the way you'd make my pain go away when I couldn't bear it. The songs, you have given all of us to play for the ones we adore when we couldn't find something deeper to say than just. I love you.

You truly are and will always be an actual Prince...

Love You."

Chris Cornell has also paid tribute to Prince. He is streaming a cover Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U”. Listen below.

Says Cornell: “Prince’s music is the soundtrack to the soulful and beautiful universe he created, and we have all been privileged to be part of that amazing world. I performed his song "Nothing Compares 2 U" for the first time a couple months ago. It has a timeless relevance for me and practically everyone I know. Sadly, now his own lyrics in this song could not be more relevant than at this moment, and I sing them now in reverence as I pay tribute to this unequaled artist who has given all of our lives so much inspiration and made the world so much more interesting.

“We will miss you Prince!!!”
