PSYCHOTIC EYES To Play Acoustic Death Metal Show

Brazilian progressive death metal pioneers Psychotic Eyes are still searching for a new drummer to replace Alexandre Tamarossi, who was forced to leave the group recently. The new member will record the band's new studio album, that once again will be produced by Kataklysm guitarist Jean François Dagenais.

Even without a new drummer, the remaining Psychotic Eyes members, Dimitri Brandi (guitar/vocal) and Douglas Gatuso (bass) keep working on the pre-production of the new album and also playing live. The band was invited to play on the official release party of the compilation Ainda Respira! - O Melhor Rock do Brasil do Século XXI, that brings some of the highlights of the current Brazilian rock and metal scene.

According to Dimitri, as they did not want to waste the opportunity to perform at the event, the idea of doing an acoustic show, without a drummer, emerged. "I suggested to Douglas to take our acoustic guitars and start working on acoustic versions of some Psychotic Eyes songs. We're going to do something different in comparison with all the bands that have explored the acoustic format, since we almost rewrote the arrangements to adapt our riffs and melodies to two guitars. We'll not have the aggressiveness of distorted guitar or the pulsating bass or drums. But we still are a death metal band and we kept the growling vocals and our melodies will emerge stronger."

The occasion will be historic, since there isn't, until now, any registration of other death metal bands that played an acoustic show. "So far that I know, we are the first death metal band to try something like that," says Dimitri. "And the experience will be very interesting for music lovers in general, it's going to be like dissecting our music to show how it is when (almost) all aggressiveness is removed."

Psychotic Eyes' acoustic show will happen September 27th at Galeria Olido in Sao Paulo.
