October 16, 2016, 8 years ago
Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters were featured on Austin City Limits (ACL) this weekend, marking his first time on the ACL stage in more than a decade. The full-hour set, which he taped at the end of his Southern Journey tour of the American South in March, included songs from his 2014 Nonesuch debut album, lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar - “Rainbow”, "Turn It Up" and "Little Maggie" - as well as Led Zeppelin favorites (including ”Black Dog”, “The Lemon Song," "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and "Whole Lotta Love") and tunes from Plant's earlier solo album.
Plant remarked about the program: "Texas doesn't normally carry a particularly good reputation a hundred miles further on outside the state, but I've been playing around Austin on and off over the years, and when I started working with Patty Griffin, I found far more depth to this area around Austin. I really enjoyed my time here."
