RUSH Frontman GEDDY LEE And Cy Young Award Winner / Professional Photographer RANDY JOHNSON Featured In MLB.com Interview

Check out an excerpt from the new article on MLB.com featuring five time Cy Young Award winner and 2015 Hall of Famer Randy Johnson and Rush frontman / Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer Geddy Lee. Randy is also a professional photographer and has photographed Rush on tour in the past, and will be on the band's current R40 Live tour as well:

Randy about Rush and Geddy: “I’m a friend first, but also a big fan. I was a huge Rush fan before I met Geddy. To have known and become friends with them for over 20-some years and photograph them on various tours is a huge thrill for me.”

Geddy about Randy: “One of the things I’ve always admired about Randy is the thoughtful and intelligent approach he always took to his game, always looking for an edge, always looking for a way to be better at what he did on the mound. The way he talked about being accountable. You don’t hear a lot of athletes talk about being accountable. I found that inspiring. I took away from that something that I could apply to my own profession.”

Classic Rock recently caught up with Rush frontman Geddy Lee, who revealed that guitarist Alex Lifeson has been coping with arthritis for the past 10 years. Following is an excerpt of his conversation with Paul Elliott:

“For Alex the arthritis is not a small thing. If anything it's going to mean we can’t tour any more like we used to, it’s more than likely going to be the arthritis – because that’s something that will directly affect his ability to play.

If I was going out on stage and I couldn’t play the way I want to, or the way I’ve played in the past, there’s no way I’d want to do it. I wouldn’t want to go out there and be a shadow of my former self.

It kind of hurts me to see him when he’s having a bad day, physically. He’s one of my oldest and dearest friends. And when he’s been at rehearsal and he’s not playing his best, it’s not nice to see your friend suffer like that.

This thing is in the back of his mind, and he’s afraid of it.”
