Star 1 Records and San Antonio-based metal band, Pigweed, announce the release date and on-going pre-sale of the band’s debut single, "Ascending”. The single is available for pre-sale at this location with a release date of October 15th. It will be available at Ttunes, Amazon and all major music retailers in more than 100 countries. "Ascending" is from the band's forthcoming debut album.

Pigweed is: Mauricio Ortega (guitar, vocals); Josh Moore (bass); David Magallanez (turntables, samples, vocals); and Rizzo (drums, vocals).

With humble beginnings, Pigweed have become one of the hardest hitting bands  in San Antonio, Texas, on and off stage. Pigweed have played numerous venues and music festivals, like Fiesta Palooza, Metal Fest, Slinging Ink Tattoo Expo, Alamo City Tattoo Expo, and the Thanks to Rock Festival, as well as the Jagermeister Tour in San Antonio.  

In 2010, Pigweed placed 2nd in the Battle for Texas Regionals. Pigweed has opened shows for national acts like hed p.e, Mushroomhead, Saliva, Adema, Orgy, Drowning Pool, 36 Mafia, Stabbing Westward, Sick Puppies, Accept, Iron Maidens, Puddle of Mudd, Kittie, and many others.

Pigweed is currently recording their debut album.
