Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts played Rustic in Sarnia, Ontario on Friday, June 10th. Weiland stopped by the K106.3 studio to chat with Rob Jenkins about the new band, Stone Temple Pilots, his book and his Christmas album, and Velvet Revolver:
Back In late March, Weiland confirmed the passing of Jeremy Brown (pictured below), the band’s guitarist.
An update from Weiland states: “Jeremy had big shoes and no one can fill them. He was my best friend and my collaborator. But we have to soldier on. Nick is an incredible player and is a great fit for the Wildabouts."
Nick Maybury came to Los Angeles as a member of the Australian band Mink. His first L.A. gig was with Perry Farrell, and he’s gone on to play on stage and in the studio with a wide variety of artists including Debbie Harry, Michele Branch, The Madden Brothers, the Sayers Club, Alice Cooper, the Veronicas and Dave Navarro.
Scott Weiland And The Wildabouts’ tour dates begin this weekend in Jacksonville, FL and continue into summer.
Scott Weiland And The Wildabouts released their debut album, Blaster, on March 31st through Softdrive Records/Universal Music in Canada.
Produced by Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and recorded throughout 2014 at Lavish Studios in Burbank and at The Sandbox in Beachwood Canyon, Blaster features 12 no-nonsense, straight-ahead rock tracks, including: “White Lighting”, “Modzilla” and “Way She Moves”.
“The album has its own distinctive sound,” says Weiland, “but it also can entice those Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver fans who have stuck by me. Over the years, I’ve gone back and forth between art records and being in a band. This is a hybrid. What we’ve come up with is really heavy, slinky, and sexy. There’s a lot of fuzz. The best way to describe it is ‘Furry’.” I knew I wanted to make a rock record,” proclaims Weiland. “It all just came together.”
