SEBASTIAN BACH - “BON JOVI Could Hang With PANTERA Any Day Of The Week... That's The Truth As Far As Partying Goes”
December 19, 2016, 7 years ago
In a new interview with Rolling Stone Australia, former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach discusses his new autobiography, 18 And Life On Skid Row. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Rolling Stone: People may not look at Bon Jovi the same way after reading some of your stories...
Sebastian Bach: “We partied every day. That's what we did. [Laughs] People might have an image of Bon Jovi as one thing and Pantera as the other, but I'll tell you, Bon Jovi could hang with Pantera any day of the week. That's the truth as far as partying goes.”
RS: You're very open about your drug use. One drug that never seemed to interest you was heroin. Why not?
S.B.: “Well, I think everybody's physical make-up is different. Here in 2016 the only thing that I enjoy at all is a glass of red wine with dinner and a joint of weed, But we're talking about 1990, 1989, and some people's physical makeup was different, and I'm just pointing out that I didn't enjoy the high of that particular drug, where some people did enjoy it. I don't understand how some guys I hang out with now can drink whiskey, cos when I drink whiskey I go to jail.” [Laughs]
RS: The book ends with a very clear message – you're open to a Skid Row reunion. Do you hope this is the catalyst for that?
S.B.: “I had to end it somehow, and I find it a missed chance at making so many people happy, including me [laughs]. If we could make our fans that have been waiting for so long very happy, I would be up for doing that.”

18 And Life On Skid Row was released on December 6th through Harper Collins. In his memoir, Bach recounts lurid tales of excess and debauchery as he toured the world with Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Soundgarden, Pantera, Nine Inch Nails and Guns N' Roses. Filled with never before seen photos from his own personal collection, 18 And Life On Skid Rowis the story of hitting it big at a young age, and of creatively reeling from a band that broke up in its prime.
From a man who achieved his wildest dreams, only to lose his family, and then his home, this is a tale of perseverance, of wine, women and song, and of a man who has made his life on the road. 18 And Life On Skid Row is not your ordinary rock memoir, because Sebastian Bach is not your ordinary rock star.
Royal Machines, the band featuring Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) on guitar, Billy Morrison on guitar, Josh Freese on drums and Mark McGrath on vocals, performed last night at The Roxy in Hollywood, CA and Sebastian Bach joined them for a cover of “Mountain Song” by Jane’s Addiction. Bach takes the lead vocal with McGrath and Donavan Leitch on backing vocals.
