L.A.-based Canadian drummer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter, Shane Gaalaas (B'z, Cosmosquad, Diesel Machine) has posted drum-cam footage of his latest digital single, "Tales From A Fantastic Lumbar".
"Tales From A Fantastic Lumbar" is a collaboration between Gaalaas, who also features on lead and rhythm guitar, keyboardist/songwriter Peter Fernandes, and noted bassist Ric Fierabracci (Cosmosquad, Planet X), who had previously teamed up with guitar virtuoso Greg Howe on the one-off Dorothy in 2012.
Says Gaalaas: “I’d been tracking a bunch of drums after coming back home from a fantastic surf trip in Indonesia so I decided to knock this one out in my studio. It's one camera angle only but you get a pretty good idea what's going on drumming-wise. It was a lot of fun writing this song with Peter and I look forward to doing a lot more together; he also just released his new album "Q.E.D." of which I was lucky enough to play on 3 cuts. It’s a pretty stellar cast of musicians and some amazing tunes. Visit his website http://www.pfernandes.org for more info. I’m also planning on releasing another instrumental called "Silverstrand Sedation” in the next couple of weeks so check that out once it hits iTunes."
Gaalaas' most recent solo album, Ascend, is available for download at iTunes and other digital outlets following its initial release on CD via Zain Records in Japan. The record contains six originals along with an English language re-interpretation of the B'z song "Brotherhood", with whom Gaalaas has been touring and recording for the past decade.
