SLASH Bassist TODD KERNS Working On Canadian Tribute Album

"One would think that coming off the road from an almost two year world tour would mean feet up in front of the television but that is so not the case," writes Slash's bassist Todd Kerns - who also fronts the recently reunited Age Of Electric - in his latest blog, titled Words.

"Since I’ve been back I have managed to record a bunch of fun Canadian songs with Cory Churko (from Shania Twain and Kelly Clarkson) and Brent Fitz (…you know…) for an intended Canadian tribute album someday. We all grew up in the heartland of the Canadian Prairies listening to the same music. I’m talking deeeeeeep cuts by bands like the Queen City Kids, Harlequin, Streetheart, Chilliwack…Exactly…you’ve never heard of ‘em. How could you have? These are songs we consider classics but only if you grew up in the right area. So with tender love and care we have decided to capture our own versions with no real ultimate goal in mind, just trusting that they will find their place in the universe when the time is right. It’s nice taking something on that isn’t time sensitive. We can do it at our leisure and there isn’t a deadline to work towards. It isn’t about money or glory. It’s about the love and respect of the music that made us who we are. I can’t wait for y’all to hear what we’ve been cooking up. It’s a lot of fun."

"I sang a song on Bob Kulick’s upcoming solo album and it rocks. Hard! For those who don’t know, Bob has long been associated with KISS. Bob played a lot of guitar on records when Ace (Frehley) was not around. Bob was almost the guitar player in KISS until Ace came along. Bob played in the early, glory days of Meat Loaf with his younger brother, Bruce. Bruce Kulick went on to be the guitar player in KISS during the ‘non-makeup’ years. If you've been playing along with your old pal Todd Dammit all these years, you’ll know that Brent Fitz and I both played with Bruce over the years. Fitzy was in Union with both Bruce and John Corabi of Motley Crue. I’m not sure when Bob’s solo album is coming out but it’s really strong what I heard so far. Robin McAuly is singing a song, Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) another. Gonna be great. I’m stoked."
