STEVE 'N' SEAGULLS Premier Music Video For Cover Of IRON MAIDEN’s “Aces High"
August 3, 2016, 8 years ago
Finnish band Steve 'N' Seagulls, who shot to fame in 2014 thanks to their bluegrass covers of metal classics, are set to release their second album, Brothers In Farms. This time out, the brothers-in-farms tackle legendary tunes from Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, Megadeth, and more. The band’s new video for their cover of Iron Maiden’s “Aces High” is streaming below.
“Sometimes, in order to make things happen, all you need is a bunch of crazy ideas, mash 'em together, and wait for the results," the band said about the video. "This is basically how we started with our first video from the upcoming album. We were lucky to get some enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working people around to get it done. You can imagine that mixing miniature aircrafts, cows, pyrotechnics, and belly dancers with the band doesn't necessarily come together naturally. But it did. And we're happy about it.”
Brothers In Farms will be released on September 9th via Spinefarm Records.

What became a genuine international viral phenomenon actually started out on a farm in central Finland; in a barn, to be precise... There, a bunch of like-minded countrymen — with the emphasis on "country" — played a customized version of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" using homespun instrumentation, everything from banjo picking to anvil bangin' to achieve their original take on a classic. They filmed the event, posted the results on YouTube, and within a couple of weeks, the clip had accumulated over five million views. It's now topped out at 25 million.
For Steve 'N' Seagulls, this was a bolt from the blue, but then, as history shows us, the greatest stories ever told tend to start in a stable... Yes, a stable.
September 21st, 2015 was christened Steve 'N' Seagulls Day in the entire state of Colorado, while the band also covered the Beastie Boys' hit "Sabotage" for The AV Club, toured the US, bringing their folk metal madrigals to the masses, and appeared at the annual SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, last spring.
Video footage of Steve 'N' Seagulls performing "Aces High" on May 24th in Bologna, Italy can be seen below.
