STEVE VAI In Praise Of Generation Axe 2016 Stand-In Drummer JP BOUVET - "He Delivered Tremendously And We Are All Grateful"

Guitar legend Steve Vai has checked in with the following update:

"Being a drummer on the Gen-Axe tour is probably the most challenging position on the tour. It requires someone who has a clear understanding of the dense poly-metric rhythms in Tosin’s music and also the rock sensibilities that are necessary to play all the other music well.

When our drummer Matt Garstka started suffering from wrist problems and had to leave the tour we were all in limbo as to what would happen, but he recommended his good buddy JP Bouvet for the job. JP came out to the tour and absorbed the entire set in a few days and played with conviction and accuracy and was able to effortlessly play Tosin’s music and at the same time rock out like a boss. He saved the day, really, and he did it with a smile. There’s not enough that I can say about this young man’s professionalism but he delivered tremendously and we are all grateful.

JP is also a clinician and gives clinics around the world. I wanted to alert any drummers on our posts that JP will be conducting a drum camp in Moscow from June 11-13. If you’re a drummer and have access to this camp, it’s highly recommended. He is a sure fire winner. Check out this link to the school he is working with for more info."
