STEVE VAI - New Signature Guitar Gear Available Via DiMarzio
January 9, 2016, 8 years ago
Guitar gear experts DiMarzio have checked in with a couple Steve Vai-related updates:
"We are pleased to announce Steve Vai has teamed up with DiMarzio for a Signature Strap Cliplock Series that will be launching this year! The Universe design features an immediately recognizable swirl pattern, inspired by Steve’s signature Ibanez Anniversary Universe 7-string guitar. It’s available in two colors: Blue Universe and Green Universe.
For the Steve Vai Art ClipLock Guitar Strap, Steve made one of his original paintings available to DiMarzio and they duplicated it in order to create this strap. Steve said, 'I only had two rules when painting: no thinking and no criticizing the work. I found this to be tremendously liberating. It’s like automatic writing, and there is no such thing as a mistake.'
Steve Vai and DiMarzio are also pleased to announce Dark Matter and Velorum special edition covers for Gravity Storm pickups, available for both for neck and bridge!
The Dark Matter humbuckers feature a custom pickup grill, with a host of gear patterns reminiscent of a clock. The design is cut all the way through the satin nickel cover, allowing the pickup bobbins below to show through.
The Velorum pickup covers depict Steve’s custom Vai logo etched into a polished gold cover and nestled in a burst of lines radiating out from the logo. Both the Dark Matter and Velorum special edition humbuckers are available in F-spacing only for bridge position models.
Stay tuned to DiMarzio's website and social accounts for more info."
On December 12th, 2015 Vai had one of his signature JEM Ibanez guitars stolen at a loading area outside of The Wiltern Theater in L.A.. Vai's webmaster recently checked in with a positive update:
"Great news, everyone: Bo, Steve's mirrored JEM that went missing this past weekend, has been found left in the bushes at the gate on Steve's property. We do not have any more details on how it got there and will perhaps forever remain a mystery. The entire Vai camp is grateful for all the amazing outpouring of support we have seen regarding this issue over the last week. Bo is now ready for 2016 and all the notes she will once again be singing from Steve’s fingers and soul."
