SVEN GALI - Benefit Shows Announced For Cancer-Stricken Guitarist Dee Cernile

Long-defunct Canuck rockers SVEN GALI have sent BraveWords.com the following message:
"With great sadness, we wish to announce that our brother and guitar player Dee Cernile has been diagnosed with cancer. The shows we had planned this summer have been re-organized to make them benefit shows in support of Dee and his fight to get healthy once again. To assist Dee in his time of need, We have decided to only play two shows. One in St. Catharines and one in Toronto. We are not sure that Dee will be able to play these shows. Anyone who knows Dee knows that he is never one to miss a show, so he will do whatever he can to be there and play with us. If he is not feeling strong enough to play live, Dee's brother Walter will be taking his place on stage. We are calling upon ALL of you who know Dee personally - or have been entertained by him and his music throughout the years -- to attend one of these benefit events to show your love and support. Saturday, August 1st at The Lions Tavern in St. Catharines, ON
Appearing at the St. Catharines Show: Sven Gali (headliner), SITTIN PRITTY, DICK TRACY and SLIDER.
No cover charge. Donation box will be available throughout the evening. All funds raised to go directly to Dee.
Friday, August 7 at the Sound Academy in Toronto, ON
Appearing on the Toronto show: Sven Gali (headliner), PUNISHMENT (featuring a mini-SLIK TOXIK reunion with Nick Walsh), CONFLICTED, SIXES & SEVEN, special acoustic performance by ASTRID YOUNG (NEIL YOUNG's sister).
Tickets will be $20 at the door. All funds raised to go directly to Dee.
