THE WINERY DOGS Drummer MIKE PORTNOY, NEXT TO NONE Drummer MAX PORTNOY Featured In New WSOU 89.5 Interview
April 11, 2016, 8 years ago
Drummer Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs) and his son Max Portnoy (Next To None) are featured in a new interview with WSOU 89.5. An excerpt from the interview is available below, followed by the complete audio.
Max on his interests between music and film: "I would never have to make a decision between the two. Music is my main thing. I plan on doing some videos and stuff for Next to None. I've done a lyric video for the song “You Are Not Me”. And I plan on doing some videos and stuff to help out the band, so maybe just combining the two. But I would never choose film over the band."
Mike on producing his son's album: "Well, it was an amazing experience. For me it brought back memories of doing my first album with Dream Theater back in '88, almost 30 years ago. So it’s a weird sense of deja vu, but I couldn’t be prouder. You know, with everything I’ve done in my career, its funny, some of the proudest moments of my entire career have nothing to do with me. They’ve had to do with some of the things I’ve seen Max do. Whether they be in the studio making their first album, or watching him live on stage or touring. It’s such an amazing feeling of pride as a father to see stuff like that."
Mike Portnoy recently checked in with the following update:
"I will be bouncing back and forth between appearances with Twisted Sister, but I am excited to announce that The Winery Dogs will be making a few exclusive European appearances in June. Excited to be doing double duty w both The Winery Dogs and Twisted Sister at both Sweden Rock Festival and The Graspop Festival. Can't wait!"
