Stuff.co.nz are reporting that Glenn Hughes will be assessed by doctors in Christchurch, New Zealand after being forced to cut short the opening night of his New Zealand tour due to what witnesses called "some sort of a medical event".
Hughes was an hour and 45 minutes into a scheduled two-hour show at Horncastle Arena on Tuesday night when he had to leave the stage. His tour publicist, Sandra Roberts, said she had spoken to promoter Simone Williams of promoters Liberty Stage who described Hughes as "comfortable and resting" and receiving treatment.
He would be assessed on Wednesday morning and a decision made on the remaining dates of his tour. Hughes is scheduled to play in Wellington on Wednesday night and then conclude his New Zealand visit in Auckland.
In the video below, recorded on September 21st, Hughes performs two Deep Purple classics on Australian TV. On the eve of his Australian tour, Glenn stormed through a short medley including “Smoke On The Water” and “Highway Star”.
