Update: JOURNEY Drummer Deen Castronovo Charged With Rape

According to TMZ, Journey drummer Deen Castronovo's recent arrest for domestic violence has gotten worse… he’s now been charged with rape.

“The Journey drummer had been arrested earlier this month for domestic violence related charges involving his wife, but now the D.A. has added new charges - rape, sexual abuse, coercion and unlawful use of a weapon. Castronovo is being held without bail in Marion County, Oregon.

Castronovo is set to appear in court today at 3 PM. Stay tuned for updates.

Journey "have made the decision to have Omar Hakim play drums for the band’s upcoming US concerts (Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah on July 4th), as well as the band's Canadian tour (July 6th – August 3rd), due to Deen Castronovo’s pending issues. We are very grateful to Omar filling in with his musical excellence."

Omar Hakim posted the following statement online: "As a long time Journey fan, I must say I'm surprised and overwhelmed by the turn of events of the last couple of days. Deen is an amazing drummer and a super talented singer, and my deepest prayers are with my brother in drums! I've always loved this band's music from day one and I will do my very best to fill in until everything goes back to normal. I appreciate the kind words from the fans and I look forward to seeing you all out there on tour! Peace and love to you all!"
