Arguably one of the most under-rated Black Sabbath albums featured Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan for a one-off opus called Born Again in 1983. Everything was controversial from the cover to the production, but some say its genius! It did hit the UK charts at #4 and in the US #39.
Deep Purple’s Youtube channel pipes in: “What Ian Gillan has described as the longest party of his career, this is Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bev Bevan and Ian Gillan live in 1983. The band had just released the Born Again album and here they perform ‘Digital Bitch’ and ‘Zero The Hero’.”
