HazeXperience, featuring legendary Y&T drummer Leonard Haze, brings its signature brand of groove-heavy rock ‘n’ roll to the Alameda County Fair (4501 Pleasanton Avenue, Pleasanton, California) on Wednesday, July 1. The band, which is comprised of the aforementioned Haze (Y&T, Ian Gillan Band), vocalist Jeffrey Winslow (Syrym), bassist David Blakely (Sammy’s Good Eye), and guitarist Jimmy DK (Byrnie Baker Band, Luvhed), will hit the 1st United Services Credit Union Stage at 9:00 p.m. Their set includes plenty of catchy, original hard rock with some Y&T material and a few surprising covers mixed in for good measure.
Lead singer Winslow spent six years working at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, where he was in charge of producing all marketing collateral, designing and maintaining the private non-profit organization’s website, and writing and distributing all press releases, among myriad responsibilities. While at the Fairgrounds, he wrote, performed, and produced the only two Alameda County Fair theme songs in the event’s long and storied history. The songs, which were created for the 2002 and 2003 fairs, were used in both television and radio commercials promoting the annual event.
“I really enjoyed my time working at the Fairgrounds, and definitely one of my favorite things about working there was checking out all the bands that would come through and play,” said Winslow. “I always wanted that to be me. Now I’ve got that chance.”
He continued, “This group is full of outstanding musicians, including the phenomenal drummer and founding member of Y&T, one of my all-time favorite bands. We always have fun onstage, and we’re looking forward to taking the audience along for the ride.”
Haze was also one of the principal songwriters for Y&T, co-writing some of their biggest hits, including “Hurricane”, “Black Tiger”, “Mean Streak”, “Rescue Me”, “Dirty Girl”, “Forever”, and MTV staple “Summertime Girls”. With Y&T, Haze headlined shows featuring opening acts such as Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and a host of other well-known bands, as well as touring the world alongside such acts as AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, and Rush. He subsequently recorded and performed with the likes of Ronnie Montrose, Tony Iommi, Ian Gillan, and many others. As a member of the Ian Gillan Band, Haze embarked on a 2 year world tour and performed in 71 countries.
