Puerto Rico’s Zafakon got the chance to open for Metallica last Wednesday at El Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The band got the spot from a worldwide campaign that Metallica had on their website to choose the bands for the first leg of the Worldwired Tour the band is currently doing.
“It was a dream come true, probably the best day of our lives and career,” said bassist Weslie Negrón. “Meeting Metallica was something that we used to speak about when we were young. Having had the opportunity to play on the same stage as they did, it was something indescribable.”
Zafakon played around 30-minutes of music which included songs from both of their records, War As A Drug and Release. The band’s performance has gotten recognition from both local and international press.
Weslie also spoke about Zafakon’s plans: “In about two weeks we’ll release the video for "Sirens", after that we will take a break from local shows and then start planning a US tour in 2017.”
