ABIGOR - Satanized

A little longer of a wait for an Abigor CD this time, Austria's premier black metal outfit take you on a trip like never before with this latest outing. Continuing in the Abigor tradition, with those dissonant yet rhythmic riff progressions that only Abigor can conjure along with that stellar drumming, Satanized proves once again that Abigor are one of the finest technical black metal bands around. Surpassing their previous effort, Channeling The Quintessence Of Satan, Satanized can easily be seen as the uneasiest listening Abigor experience to date. In fact, probably their most uneasy release since that car crash they offered us by the name of Opus IV, Satanized is utterly hypnotic in nature, the music acting like some black metal drug that intoxicates the soul and begins to punish without remorse leaving the listener sometimes dazed, worn and battered. Leaning back more on the atmospheric edge of past, more old school elements can be found within along with maintaining that raw piercing sound they have always been known for. Even though this may take time to sink in, this is totally Abigor, the way we know them to be and the way we expected them to churn. No real surprises.
