BLOOD RED THRONE - Monument Of Death

Timing couldn't have been better. With Tchort releasing the fabulous new Green Carnation album, his death metal band has also released something of worth. Showing a different expression, Blood Red Throne take their cue directly from the old school Florida death metal scene. With shades of Deicide and the more groove-oriented mosh-kill of Cannibal Corpse, Blood Red Throne take us back to the basics by providing us with a powerful ferocity that is a trip down nostalgia lane towards the glory days of the Florida/Buffalo scene. But seeing that this is a million times better than the last two Deicide albums or Six Feet Under, Blood Red Throne should definitely make waves. And seeing that this seems to be the only Norwegian release these days taking cue from such a scene, it does seem quite fresh, even though it might not be.
