BURST - Prey On Life

If The Devin Townsend Band went completely and utterly insane (as if it's not already), Burst would probably burst out of that paradigm and then live a solitary, meaningful life all its own. Part emo-core with bits of melodic death and dreamy indie rock passages aligned in succinct order, this group of Swedes prey on convention and then distill its component parts until levels of disconcerting and puzzling intrigue shine through. As soon as you think you've heard the structure of one of these tracks before, the soundscapes are immediately changed with all the precision of a map missing pieces. It's art rock, it's new school informalism, it's so post-modern that it isn't even aware of itself and the misunderstandings it's about to cause.
