COFFINS - The Fleshland

Japan’s COFFINS is one of its country’s preeminent disasterpieces, the band writing some of the most vital Stockholm Death and digging-in-the-dirt doom to grace metal in the ‘00s, a feat that was immensely captured on ‘08’s Buried Death and is now, once again, haunting the chapel with latest LP, The Fleshland. This is metal by purists for purists, Coffins dissertating with the authenticity that is found in the supposed-to-rot casket gardens that house this style’s progenitors, AUTOPSY and ENTOMBED, while also playing with the drive that is found in next-generation revivalists that hope to contribute new experience in the midst of the morbid devourment. Records made of this sort of grit are rare ventures indeed, and you’d be wise not to ignore this latest altar of sacrifice.
