CULT OF LUNA - Salvation

It's funny how Cult Of Luna has become a buzz band in the weirdest places, garnering all kinds of namedrops in indie-rock, emo, screamo (ha!) and electro circles. But it's totally warranted I think, this Swedish group of scenesters out neurosising Neurosis and putting together mind-numbingly emotive 12 minute epics that recall 3AM pain and suffering as much as they do dronecore. I'm still impressed with '03's The Beyond, and Salvation is maturity on a upwards trajectory, bringing the melancholy, anger and catharsis of this harrowed group to newly invigorated and sublime levels. This is for the starkly non-ambivalent, to be sure.
