DEATHCHAIN - Ritual Death Metal

In a year that is already absurdly overflowing with album of the year contenders, Finland’s DEATHCHAIN has written and executed Ritual Death Metal, a record that can only be described as Left Hand Path’s seriously unbalanced younger brother, the kind of eyes-wide-open sociopath that you hope exists only in uncannily realistic dystopias (and not here, in your ever-continuing present moment). Beginning with the ominous ‘Voice of Sharur’, Ritual Death Metal then explodes into extreme music for extreme people, this record the unrelenting fucking hatred that is promised by so many, but delivered by so few. Death metal purists are going to immediately be enthralled by this LP and its direct connection to ENTOMBED, GRAVE, BEHEMOTH and NILE, Deathchain so obviously made up of those who listen to, and cherish, DISMEMBER and NIHILIST demos on vinyl, this band not only a true student of the genre, but also its lead proponent, achiever and enforcer. If this was 1992, your tape-trading network would be on fire about this record, and a TDK-90 cassette adorned with sharpie marker slogans like “Only DEATH Is REAL!” would already be on its way, the other cassettes in the package undoubtedly going unplayed for months.
