DEFLESHED - Reclaim The Beat

This is some of the most relentless, shit-kicking, headbanging thrash heard since, well, Defleshed’s last hyperactive outing (the excellent Royal Straight Flesh). But therein lies the problem. The unit shows not one iota of growth here, obviously being quite content to deliver another impossibly speedy thrash metal prototype with copious amounts of headbang to turn on the masses. It is these same masses who may well push away from the table though despite the high quality of material here, due to the album’s redundancy. It’s true that the precision percussive battery and unflagging tempos on Reclaim The Beat make the latest outings by more celebrated neo-thrash units seem novice in comparison (The Crown and The Haunted anyone?), but unfortunately Defleshed also have to compete with themselves. Personally, I’m gonna give the lads the benefit of the doubt this time and revel in the impossible energy readings this effort gives off.
