DIEMONDS - Never Wanna Die

You can grind a piece of coal to its bare bones and it will either turn to dust or out will come a diamond! Toronto hard rockers Diemonds are back with their new album, Never Wanna Die and it is filled with attitude, and the hard rock hutzpah that doesn’t lose its gleam. The riffs and hooks hit in all the right places and sits in a nice package and leaves you wanting more. Stunning vocalist Priya Panda shines by guiding a catchy chorus in “Over It”, bringing the rough attitude and almost rapping the verses in “Ain’t That Kinda Girl” and sounding outright pissed off on “Better Off Dead” (about someone who was stalking her).

Never Wanna Die would garner a higher score if it wasn’t for the downtrodden; “Secret”, which seems out of place and “Wild At Heart” and “Meet Your Maker” come and go without leaving an imprint. But man (or woman), just listen to that riffage on “Better Off Dead” or the zombie spreading on “Hell Is Full”. Diemonds is a breath of fresh air and this band just “gets it.” North America is in need of hard hitting, no frills hard rocking and Never Wanna Die delivers it. And the pretty face seals the deal!
