ENEMY OF THE SUN - Shadows

Opener 'Emptiness' immediately rips faces out of the gate, mixing Grip Inc.’s high octane thrash with unorthodox SYL vocal melodies. 'Burning Bridges' follows in fine form adding middle eastern guitar references within the crushing wall of sound attack. Talk about snapping peoples' ears and necks to attention. The balance of this debut doesn't disappoint either, being an innovative, powerful example of forward-thinking metal. While not as otherworldly or dissonant as Voivod, Enemy Of The Sun takes listeners off traditional metal paths like the Canadian unit does/did. Considering that well respected producer and Grip Inc. guitarist Waldemar Sorychia is firmly at the helm Enemy Of The Sun, the high quality and inventiveness achieved here isn't exactly surprising, but is still very welcome and impressive nonetheless.
