Opener ‘Ingressus Regnum Spiritus’ builds anticipation similar to the opening march of Slayer’s ‘Hell Awaits’, then Enthroned crashes forth in blastbeated fury on this, their seventh full-length album. Tetra Karcist continues the progression displayed on the band’s last two albums (Carnage In Worlds Beyond and XEX Haereticum) now rubbing shoulders with the violent black metal elite like Marduk. Amongst the face-melting viciousness there are memorable hooks and, most surprisingly, eye-raising guitar histrionics that elevate strong tracks to exceptional status. Anyone questioning these claims need only lend their ears to the likes of ‘Teleum Scorpions’, ‘Through The Cortex’ and ‘Vermin’ to be convinced.
