FALKENBACH - Tiurida

(Napalm)
Viking/folk metal simply doesn't get any better than what FALKENBACH deliver. Any doubts about this fact are dispelled with yet another compelling effort from Vratyas Vakyas and his hired hands. Adjectives like glorious, addictive and compelling come to mind when one immerses oneself in this fifth full length release by the German unit. Made up of six epic tracks, Falkenbach take listeners on a journey that challenges the pre-conceived notions of what folk metal is and can be. Haunting choruses, soothing acoustic and memorable headbanging riffs perpetuate throughout the full 40 minutes with nary a wasted second to sully its glory. Whether it be driven by clean or belched rasp vox, Vakyas draws you into its captivating spirit, unwilling to simply provide the expected, unlike the vast majority of today's recorded music. Rather, this is music to ponder possibilities by. Early album of the year candidate to be sure.
