IMPALED NAZARENE - All That You Fear

You can tell Mika took the melodic death criticism to heart last time out, as All That You Fear is almost completely devoid of said deviation. And it's a bit disappointing methinks, 'cos the big success of Absence Of War was the melody-based duo of 'Hardboiled And Still Hellbound' and 'Into The Eye Of The Storm', both of which remain metal anthems a couple years on. Anyway, despite the lack of searing leads, Impaled Nazarene has once again delivered the goods, this time resorting back to a dirty Motorhead vibe enraptured by bass lines that are completely obsessed with being smeared, greasy entities of their own. These Finns are still drunkenly over-the-top though, and the record has no shortfall of extreme metal histrionics: this is a sound that takes your insanity as an understood prerequisite from a band that has sanity issues of its own.
