IRON MAIDEN - Rock in Rio

Iron Maiden have just released a new 2CD set featuring their three guitar line-up (of Gers, Smith and Murray). Recorded, like Bruce's recent live set, in Brazil, this is a great testament to the latest (and greatest?) version of the band. This 19 track CD contains songs from all of the eras of the band, including the Blaze and DiAnno incarnations. The tracklisting is very similar to the one heard at the recent Brixton Academy gigs in London. As with any such set, there are tracks that some might feel should be here and some that shouldn't. I thought it odd that '2 Minutes To Midnight' and 'Fear Of The Dark' are on here and others not. Included with the set are two videos taken from the forthcoming and long delayed Rock In Rio DVD. One is the title track from their latest studio album while the other is a Day In The Life. Is this an essential collection for all metal fans? Well no, not really. Those who wish to have a great live album should seek out Live After Death. However, this is a great collection of live songs from the band and a well-recorded album. Good but not great; however there are a lot worse ways of spending your dosh.
