KREATOR - Violent Revolution

The last few years haven't been kind to Mille Petrozza. While dealing with personal dilemmas, he began to take Kreator down a peculiar path. No doubt when you heard the keyboard lines on Endorama, your vision of the band's relevance to the thrash era began to lose it's fervor. Mille had chosen melancholic melody lines over a cranium crunch. But the bite is back and the line from the lead-off track, 'Reconquering The Throne' tells the bitter tale: "... our rising has begun." Violent Revolution is an exercise in putting Kreator back on the extreme Metal map. And even more exhilarating is the fact that not only has the band delivered the logical follow-up to Extreme Aggression and Coma Of Souls, they've built wisely upon the patented sound. While speed is very much the guiding light in this revolution, even the tiniest rays of sunshine are filled by depressing guitar licks, a shroud of fear and impending doom. The dual, down-tuned strings add as much power as the bludgeoing double bass. The title track, complete with Maidenesque intro may be the finest Kreator track of all time, showcasing a man that has found his groove once again and is intent on not losing touch. And he's found a comrade in arms: ex-Waltari axe Sami Yli-Sirnio is now a permanent member, replacing former Coroner shredder Tommy Vetterli. The twin-axe attack on 'Second Awakening' and fast-fretting on 'All Of The Same Blood (Unity)' and 'Bitter Sweet Revenge' will take you back to a better place. Simply superb.
