LOCK-UP - Hate Breeds Suffering

Debut record from this supergroup (featuring members of Cradle Of Filth, Napalm Death, The Crown, Hypocrisy) was a by-the-numbers disappointment, and it now can be reported that not much has changed. Sure, the blastbeats have been toned down and melody (why am I getting sick of that word?) has been injected. However this is nothing but death circa 1994, and you guessed it, I listened to those records back in 1994... and I don't need to hear them again. With the talent involved you'd think that something new or inspired would be created, but not a single original idea is found within hearing or seeing distance. One highlight, however, will make my best songs of 2002 list when the time comes. It's called 'Detestation', and plows through with reckless abandon while incorporating over-the-top groove. Thankfully, this track manages to penetrate through the haze of filler that is this record.
