MELVINS - Electroretard

(Man's Ruin)
An odds 'n' sodser from the oddest of noiseniks, Electroretard is a 42 minute sliderule rock ride through noise, covers and remakes of old classicks. Best of the bunch is a punk metal quick pick through 'Youth Of America' by Seattle grails The Wipers, followed by a psyche drawl through Floyd's 'Interstellar Overdrive'. Of the originals, 'Gluey Porch Treatments' gets an updating, and man, this track shows that when Melvins are on, they could crank some of the most murderous metal riffs barely contained. Of course, it all whips by in an instant. Same with 'Loving Butterflies', which features drums as muggers and guitars as locust swarm. Pity the band bearhugs Pere Ubu more often than Priest. Come over to the dark side Buzzo!
