NEUROSIS - Sovereign

Here's a modest, almost casual set of recordings from metal's weirdest texture workers, combined with some CDROM shenanigans and launched through the band's own label imprint. This is some of the mellowest, dreariest Neurosis material yet, reminding me of old Pere Ubu and PiL at times, tribal, dark, alternately hypnotic and mind crushingly boring. Gotta hand it to them though, they stake brave territory, creating background soundscapes to what mental anguish I don't know. OK, just checked, the CDROM stuff is that soundtrack, a hellish, seemingly random collection of creepy images and even more muted sound terrain flicked and clicked in a devilish dance, sight and sound for the hounds of Hades. If that sounds fun to you, then by all means, dig in.
