SKINLESS - Foreshadowing Our Demise

Brutal, insane, powerful and skillful... just mere words to describe the new heroes of brutal American death metal, Albany's (a correction from the feature where I mentioned they were from Syracuse) Skinless are surely to conquer the death metal plane with their sophomore release which bludgeons many yards ahead of their stellar debut. It's just taking it a step further, where on every single moment on this CD, the entire formula works. The production is damn strong, the songwriting is unhindered, a perfect mix of scathing brutality mixed with an awesome grooving romp that only a very few can master. The variety and diversity is all there: Skinless avoid the clichZÿs and traps to which many in the genre fall prey, (the doomy and dark atmosphere of 'Enslavement' must be heard). And on top of that they put on an unbelievable live show (singer Sherwood Webber sure knows how to get a crowd moving). But let's hope the success of their self-financed debut carries beyond with Foreshadowing Our Demise. And since Dying Fetus are supposedly calling it a day, it's time to make way for the new kings.
