SLASH PUPPET - No Strings Attached

As the ‘80s gave way to the ‘90s, Slash Puppet – along with Slik Toxik – ruled the Toronto rock scene. They would pack clubs like there was no tomorrow; talk about a hot commodity! Now Slash Puppet’s first ever release – an eight-song cassette simply titled The Demo – is available on CD. And what a treat it is. This tape sold in excess of 2,500 copies back in the day – without a deal. For those who experienced it firsthand, this is one of the best trips down memory lane that you can imagine. Even more remarkable is the fact that ‘Slow Down’, ‘Squeeze It In’ and ‘Evil Woman’ still kick serious ass some 19 years later and an entirely new group of fans are falling in love with these timeless tunes. The urgency, energy and libido bursting forth are undeniable. In addition to the highly addictive music, the accompanying booklet is packed with photos, lyrics and a Slash Puppet historiography. This is a band that should have been much bigger than they were. Whether reminiscing or discovering, you can’t go wrong.
