SUSPERIA - Unlimited

Talk about a kick in the balls. Susperia's third outing, Unlimited, is a scorcher from start to finish, on par with Testament classic The Gathering. Brave words indeed, but between singer Athera's mid-range Chuck Billy growl, the technically ferocious guitars and drums, and the high energy onslaught, I'm completely floored. The first 45 seconds of the album are the only thing black metal about Susperia these days, the rest of it honouring the likes of Testament and Slayer while giving the finger to the overblown theatrics of a world ruled by Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth. Amazingly good.
