TANKARD - A Girl Called Cerveza

German thrashaholics TANKARD have been churning out tunes about bingeing and barfing for 30 solid years — and it’s still as riveting as those first chords from 1986’s Zombie Attack. Stylistically similar to the Teutonic Three: SODOM, DESTRUCTION and KREATOR, Tankard was always relegated to having more of a cult status. But the almost forgotten thrash act of the ’80s never stopped cranking out their brand of thrash by releasing a new CD every two to three years since its inception. Currently signed to stalwarts Nuclear Blast, their stock is likely to rise with more exposure, especially in North America. Tankard’s 150-proof thrash attack rings true on A Girl Called Cerveza, beginning with the explosive opening track ‘Rapid Fire (A Tyrant’s Elegy).’ They also hooked up with German metal queen Doro Pesch for a duet with original Tankard vocalist Andreas Geremia on ‘The Metal Ladyboy.’ When speaking of German thrash metal, humor and beer, Tankard are sure to be on the tip of your tongue. So be sure to get your beer fetish fix with A Girl Called Cerveza. She’s just your type, too!
